Fue construida entre 1220 y 1221 por la dinastía marroquí de los almohades para servir de atalaya del puerto fluvial de Sevilla. . Antiguamente estaba unida a las murallas de la ciudad y comunicada con una torre similar llamada Torre de Plata. La Torre del Oro recibió este nombre porque estaba recubierta de una mezcla de mortero, cal y paja prensada que la hacía resplandecer bajo la luz del sol con un tono dorado. Por ello su nombre


La torre del oro ha tenido muchos usos durante su historia. Originalmente se usaba para la vigilancia, tras la conquista cristiana funcionó como capilla y más tarde se convirtió en una prisión. Actualmente en su interior está la sede del Museo Naval de Sevilla.

It was built between 1220 and 1221 by the Moroccan dynasty Almohad . it was formerly attached to the walls of the city and connected to a similar tower called Torre de Plata. The Torre del Oro received this name because it was covered with a mixture of mortar, lime and pressed straw that shined under the sunlight with a golden hue. Hence its name
Gold Tower has had many uses throughout its history. Originally it was used for surveillance, after the Christian conquest it served as chapel and later became a prison. Now in its interior  we can find  the Naval Museum of Seville.

The General Archive of the Indies was born in 1785 by  the King Charles III, because he wanted to collect  in one place the documents coming from  Indies , until then,it had been scattered in Simancas, Cadiz and Seville.
Its headquarters is the emblematic building of the Casa Lonja de Mercaderes Seville,  Juan de Herrera was the architect .It has  more than 43,000 files, with some eighty million pages of original documents, occupy eight linear kilometers of shelves. These funds are an exceptional source ta into more than three centuries of American history (from Tierra del Fuego to the southern United States) and Asia (Philippines).

CATHEDRAL OF SEVILLE
Seville Cathedral is the world's largest, after St. Peter's in the Vatican and San Pablo in London third. It is one of the last Gothic cathedrals in Spain, already showing evidence of the Renaissance style.
The cathedral is located where was the Great Mosque in the twelfth century. It was converted into a Christian church to conquer the city Ferdinand III of Castile in 1248. From the original mosque minaret remains, now known as the Giralda and the Patio de los Naranjos.
The Giralda is the bell tower of the Cathedral of Seville declared World Heritage Site since 1987 also stands out for its location and history for its architectural structure and function within the old town. Top of the bell tower is a bronze sculpture depicting the triumph of faith called the serving Giraldillo weather vane and names the collection.
The courtyard of the orange was the old "shan" of the mosque, very reformed in successive restorations, although its original character and configured with pillars supporting pointed horseshoe arches structure persists.
